Meet AMY KELLY, the dynamic new leader of Lone Star Literary Life. A fixture in the North Texas literary scene, Amy's diverse involvement laid the foundation for her role at Lone Star Lit. She's been a presenter at DFW Con, hosts a monthly writer’s group with Art House Dallas, and enjoys an active membership with the Texas Library Association.
Amy holds a bachelor’s degree in French and History from Texas A&M University, along with secondary teaching credentials. She spent five years teaching 8th-grade social studies in Fairfax County Public Schools, where she also authored curriculum for twenty-six middle schools. Her expertise didn't go unnoticed, as she became a source for publications like The Washington Post and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, while also reviewing nonfiction books for VOYA Magazine.
Through her brand, The Ish Girl, Amy is deeply involved in supporting fellow writers. She also co-hosts Time to Write, a podcast geared towards providing authors with practical tips and mindset tools to reach their goals.
As a sought-after speaker, Amy has graced stages at various writing and educational conferences and community events. Her podcast, In the Middle of It with Amy Kelly, remains a valuable resource for parents and teachers looking to use young adult literature to connect with middle schoolers.
