“Dialogue with the WOW Factor!”

with Christine M. Fairchild

This program is geared toward writers who want to understand not just the mechanics of quality and effective dialogue, but the wow factor. We will discuss how to:

  • Build tension on every page using unpredictable phrasing and language

  • Reveal characterization, suspects, clues & red herrings

  • Throw curve balls in conversations to keep readers engaged or off guard

  • Change pacing/energy with dialogue

  • Progress the story by driving plot points & thematic elements

  • Using misdirection and subtext for greater sophistication in storytelling

A former journalist, Christine M. Fairchild offers 30+ years exp. as a writer/editor. She’s conducted celebrity interviews (XFiles, SciFiMall.com), edited for technical giants (Microsoft, Hitachi), and served as a marketing/readability specialist for consumer products (DHL, Cingular, AT&T). As an editor and ghostwriter, she’s worked on non-fiction, novels and screenplays. As the Editor Devil, Christine now focuses on helping suspense authors take their work, and their career, to the next level by teaching at conferences, through online workshops, and by coaching/editing for clients. She combines her book doctor specialty with her studies of psychology and taking classes with law enforcement. She even writes suspense fiction, so she understands the challenges authors face in their craft and the publishing industry.
