Melanie Sumrow is the author of novels for young readers and a creative writing instructor. Before becoming a writer, Melanie worked as a lawyer for more than 16 years, with many of her cases involving children and teens. Her debut novel, THE PROPHET CALLS, was a 2018 Writers' League of Texas Award Finalist, and her latest novel, THE INSIDE BATTLE, has received multiple glowing reviews, including a Booklist review that called Melanie's work “powerful” and a starred review from Shelf Awareness who calls her latest book “eye-opening.” THE INSIDE BATTLE was also just named a “New & Noteworthy” title by the New York Public Library. Melanie has taught Story classes through the Writer's Path at SMU and writing workshops through the Highland Park Literary Festival.
