Formatting, metadata, marketing—oh, my! If you’re embarking on the path of self-publishing—or even just considering the prospect—you might be feeling like you’re on a cross-country trip without a road map. Our panel of indie and hybrid authors is here to help steer you around the potholes.
PANEL
AMBER ROYER writes the Chocoverse comic telenovela-style foodie-inspired space opera series, and the Bean to Bar Mysteries. She is also the author of Story Like a Journalist: a Workbook for Novelists. She also teaches creative writing and is an author coach. Amber and her husband live in the DFW Area, where you can often find them hiking or taking landscape/architecture/wildlife photographs. If you are very nice to Amber, she might make you cupcakes. Chocolate cupcakes, of course! Amber blogs about creative writing technique and all things chocolate at www.amberroyer.com.
AMY SHOJAI, CABC, is the award-winning author of 35+ prescriptive nonfiction pet titles and a pet-centric thrillers series. She published more than a dozen titles traditionally with her agent before jumping off the "indie" cliff, and never looking back. Amy publishes "wide" on all platforms, designing her own covers, formatting the interior, and uploading "direct" as well as to aggregators. Amy also records her own audiobooks.
LORI ROBERTS HERBST is the author of the Callie Cassidy Mystery series. Her books have twice earned CIBA Murder and Mayhem first-place awards, as well as being named a Silver Falchion Best Cozy finalist. She is a former journalism teacher and counselor who now writes, indie publishes, and markets her books. A proud member of the SinC Guppy chapter, she moderates the Cozy Gup group. She lives in Dallas and has served as Sisters in Crime North Dallas chapter secretary since 2019.
